When You Feel Like You’re Running on Empty

Ever been driving, see the gas light come on, and think, Eh, I can probably make it a little further?

That’s how a lot of us live—physically, emotionally, spiritually. Running on fumes, convincing ourselves we’ll be fine if we just push through. Maybe it’s stress, maybe it’s busyness, maybe it’s that feeling of carrying too much but not knowing how to put anything down.

And then, at some point, you sputter to a stop.

Life wasn’t meant to be lived on empty. But if we’re honest, we all try it at times—especially in our faith. We think, I’ll get back into my Bible when things slow down. I’ll pray more when I have the energy. I’ll go to church when life isn’t so hectic. But that’s like saying, I’ll stop for gas when my car isn’t running on fumes anymore.

Jesus doesn’t tell us to wait until we’re spiritually full to come to Him—He tells us to come because we’re empty.
