It’s March, which apparently means it’s time for brackets, buzzer-beaters, and a whole lot of people pretending they’ve been following college basketball all year.
I’ve never filled out a bracket in my life. Not once. I’m not even entirely sure how it works. I think there are teams, numbers, maybe some mascots fighting for dominance—I don’t know. What I do know is that every March, people go absolutely bonkers over it. Hence the name: March Madness.
But for me, March tends to feel a little more like “Life Madness.”
Anyone else?
Schedules pile up, kids are bouncing off the walls, the weather can’t decide if it’s spring or still winter, and I find myself standing in the kitchen staring at the fridge like it personally wronged me. It’s chaotic. Unpredictable. A little messy.
And you know what? Life's like that a lot.
I think that’s why I’m thankful for the steadiness of God. When everything else feels scrambled and uncertain, He’s not. He’s not pacing heaven in stress. He’s not wondering what’s next. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Perfect peace. Not because life makes sense, but because He does.
So if March feels like a lot right now, you’re not alone. Whether it’s basketball madness or just regular ol’ life madness, remember this: Jesus isn’t overwhelmed. He’s not confused. And He hasn’t lost track of you in the middle of the mess.
Take a breath. Spend a little time in prayer. Open up the Word—even if it’s just one verse. Let God meet you there. You don’t need a bracket to find peace... just a little bit of stillness and a God who never changes.
